While the rest of the city is asleep, we spend our nights lying in bed, in thought and drowning in an urge for human contact or at least interaction. Despite our significant others, casual lovers, mothers, adolescent girls, boys and toys, we lie awake.Awake!...in shame or even love. Awake as the embarrassment of the night before soaks the sheets of our beds. If it's self love we crave, it's through the promiscuity of mankind in which we try to obtain it. Though unlike our bodies and mind, the intangibility of our souls makes our soul forever longing, forever incompletable. Doomed. Pouring substance into an invisible glass resulting in a sticky mess in which our parents have advised us is not worth crying over. As the tissue box near our bed runs out due to the constant wiping of tears, blood, semen, and saliva we must realize this: sexual frustration is linked to wars, depression, suicide, gender-changes, gender- discrimination, homophobia, heterophobia, infidelity, religion, religion, religion, of course masturbation, bastard children, etc...(the list is infinitely long, believe it!) As people then we must acknowledge our utterly significant responsibility/agenda of acknowledging the utter significance of sex, safe sex, consent, pleasure and fulfillment. We mustn't only save lives we must also save souls, mouth to mouth and heart to heart. Sex and love, not the lack thereof, make for our greatest frustrations.
About us:
The Sexual Frustration is only beginning to etch out its giant mark on L.A. and its music scene. They are believed to be of the most significant projects to emerge this summer. The agenda they hold in their music is one that is very secular and apolitical. TSF music is charged with heartfelt lyrics that touch upon subject matter that is not for squeamish sex-fearing prudes.
Human interaction is the focus of every TSF song, as human interaction is the inspiration of this project. Not so much being about the frustration brought on to someone due to the lack of sex, this musical movement is more about the frustration that comes as a result of sex.
Therein lies the notion that we are all sexually frustrated, however that may be. Being so easy to relate to can explain the enthusiasm TSF has received by so many fans, critics, and industry titans in the early stages of this project. Accomplished producer Alex Lakis (Jimmy's Chicken Shack, Wood Harris, Suga Free) decided to mix/produce the Blood Stew EP from his home in Annapolis, MA. Singer/composer Johnny Alfi started recording the EP in his mother's living room before getting it into Lakis's hands. An exchange of material via email got the recording process underway. The demo also got into the hands of scene photographer/bassist Jeremie Fremaux who joined forces with Alfi early 2007.
The two together have a plan of causing quite a stir within the industry. Alfi states "We're a very unconventional act. We believe in supporting the scene and fighting for what we believe in: long term relationships, sex no matter what time of the month, and loving oneself, physically and mentally. Many believe our music to be overly vulgar but honestly, which girl hasn't f**ked on her period when in love. Some think it to be silly to make a record about it, but it's about the love that comes with it all that the record is really about."
